Brief bio of the speaker:

Andrew Burton-Jones
is a Professor of Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School, University of Queensland, Australia.  He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Master of Information Systems from the University of Queensland, and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University.  Prior to returning to Australia, he was on the faculty of the University of British Columbia, Canada.  Andrew undertakes research on how effectively organisations use IT, how to improve the methods organisations use to analyse and design IT systems, and how to improve theories and methods used in IS research.  Currently, much of his research is situated in the health sector, motivated by the promise of digital transformation to improve health and wellbeing.  Andrew has taught a wide range of information systems courses across the undergraduate, professional graduate, doctorate, and executive levels, in the USA, Canada, Australia, and China.  Prior to his academic career, he was a senior consultant in a big-4 accounting/consulting firm. He is a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems and the current Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly.
